Brrrrrr

You know, I'm all for snow and the changing seasons and all that, but this weekend was a little much. We were in a winter weather warning practically all this weekend and a blizzard warning yesterday, for just a little over 2 inches of snow. Ridiculous. On the other hand, it's ridiculous to have 2 inches of snow on April 6. I'm done with snow and I'm done with cold weather. It's only in the 30s today too, so I'm freezing my rear end off. (Oh, if it were only that easy!) Anyway I'm ready for spring, daffodils, tulips, sunshine, and WARM WEATHER.

I was watching Power Lunch today on whatever channel that's on - I know it's not MSNBC... Maybe it is - whatever - they were talking about the average home price in Phoenix dropping 35% - and they told about one home buyer who purchased a home originally priced at $250,000 for only $83,000. Then I started thinking of how warm Phoenix is, and pretty soon I was ready to put out the for sale sign in our yard at take off! I quickly regained my senses when I thought of how much I really HATE Phoenix because it's so big and the traffic is so awful and how my dad still had to use a street directory to find his way around after living there for 18 years, and I decided against it. There's something to be said for the Midwest as far as traffic and people just being friendlier, but I'm so cold today my hands are blue!

I have idea for the whoever it is that designs garments for LDS people.... If you're not LDS, you won't get it, if you are, maybe you can sympathize. We have nice cool garments to wear in the summer, so you stay comfortable in hot weather, but nothing to help in the winter. Seriously, we need to be making some neoprene or thermal garments for people who can't get warm. I'd buy them - I'd buy LOTS of them, so take that to the powers that be and get working on it! I'm expecting warm garments by next winter. No wool though, that wouldn't be good, too scratchy.

Dad went to court for his accident this morning. No ticket was ever turned in, so the case was dismissed. Hmmmm. Anyway, he doesn't have to worry about that now.

Dad's blood sugar was 102 yesterday! Woo hoo! So much better than the 453 of less than a month ago! The insulin is sure making a difference. He's learning what he can and can't eat through. Crackers are a definite no-no. He had chili with crackers for dinner last night and his sugar this morning was 220. He skipped all the goodies at Ryan's party yesterday and still had high sugar because of the stupid crackers. If that were me, I'd have eaten a small piece of cake and skipped the crackers.... Hey, I'm just sayin'.

Thankfully, Ruger never suffered any ill effects from eating his decayed, long-dead squirrel last week. That's a relief. I didn't want to clean up after a sick dog all weekend. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Meg was home for the weekend. At least there was someone sleeping downstairs for the past 2 nights. We didn't see her during the daylight hours at all, so I'm just assuming it was her...

Toby drank almost a half a glass of wine the other night. Steve was drinking a glass and set it down on the floor and Toby finished it. Not good. He passed out for about an hour and then when Steve brought him upstairs for the night he (Toby, not Steve) threw up. I wonder if he had a hangover yesterday? Steve has to learn not to put his alcoholic beverages on the floor... If they're not good for Steve, I doubt if they're any better for the dog...

I guess that's it for now. I'm not leaving the house until it hits at least 55 degrees outside, I absolutely refuse, so don't be looking for me outside any time in the near future.

They do have thermal garments! I know, because I used them on my mission and I still use them when I go out in the cold here. They are made of a material called 'thermex' and it's very warm but lightweight so you don't feel like you are wearing padding. I wear the bottoms over my regular garment bottoms. I've found that I don't need the tops. Anyway...just a heads up. Go to Distribution Services on the LDS.org website and click on temple clothing (I think) anyway, you can order on line or over the phone. You need your membership number, which is on your temple recomend, or your confirmation date, which you can get from your ward clerk. Good luck. :)

And as for moving to Phx....remember it's hellishly hot 9 months out of the year!
