What a Croc!

Posted by Picasa
These are my new Mickey Mouse Crocs! Are they cool or what? I love them. They're the only things that don't make my feet hurt after about 2 minutes.

Here's a photo a la Cherry Blossom Girl !

I guess maybe I should have turned the picture around. Oops.
And these shoes are just ME! Disney characters and a Swedish flag. It doesn't get any more Mindi than that. At least until Jibbitz has a dachshund!

Shoot first, ask questions later

Our neighbor behind us just told Steve they got broken into Monday night. While they were home and sleeping. About 2 a.m. he heard a loud noise in their kitchen area and then a light came on. He yelled out, thinking it was one of his kids, but hen he heard someone running. Turns out they kicked the back door in. They got a PlayStation, his wallet, and his wedding ring. (The wallet and wedding ring were on the kitchen table, I thought all guys emptied their pockets and put stuff on their dresser? What do I know, I've only been married twice.) Anyway, this is kind of scary news. Last year the house next door to the east of us was broken into twice, but they were in the process of moving and no one was home. I thought their story was kind of fishy at the time because they said they had their birth certificates stolen. Why would you leave something like your birth certificate in a house you had moved out of? Anyway.

Early last summer the house across the street and behind us got burglarized. They were on vacation when it happened. What's really odd about that one was they have this huge brick mailbox and one morning the mailbox was a pile of rubble all over the street, somebody had hit it during the night (We didn't hear a thing!) One of the other neighbors who knew they were on vacation called their son to come over and when he got to the house he found the screens had been cut and some stuff stolen out of the house, so he calls the police. Well, turns out the people who broke in were the people who hit the mailbox and when they hit it, they got high-centered over the brick base, so they called a tow truck to get them out! Somehow or other the tow company found out about the break in, so they called the police, so the burglars ended up getting arrested.

That makes 4 burglaries in about a year to 3 houses surrounding ours. I'm glad we have an alarm... and 6 dachshunds... and a loaded .357 in the nightstand.

Bah humbug!

Our stupid computer for home quit working again. I don't know what's the matter with it. We have it on a wireless router because my work computer has to be hardwired. Day before yesterday it worked. Yesterday it didn't. My brother (the computer guru! lol) suggested I change IP addresses, which I did, but no go. Darn thing. The wonky thing is, I can get into our Cox e-mail and I can get into the iTunes store, so it's got to be a firewall or something, but why would it work one day and not the next? Ugh.

I had my meeting in HR yesterday with our boss and that other transcriptionist. Yes, I'm trying to be nice. Tami, our manager, just set out some new guidlines, so when you want to be nice to somebody they'll definitely understand kindness and not go postal on you. Which I think is rather ridiculous for women over 40, but sometimes you can't expect people to be able to figure out the simple things by themselves. I also had my 6-month review, which was actually due to April, but the paperwork didn't come down until now. The review was very good, I'm pleased with that. I have to get my line count back up where it was when I worked all night by myself in the peace and quiet, i.e., no dogs, husband, or children to distract me. I like taking the occasional break, but apparently I like it too much. Gotta get that nose back on the grindstone!

Speaking of which... Steve went to the Borders (why buy a magazine when you can read it for free?) and I told him I'd be done working by the time he got home, so I better get at it.

If anyone has any ideas about the darn computer, drop me an e-mail. I've tried resetting the firewall and have hit a brick wall. Ha ha...

I love the 80s

I had to crack up because someone who seriously doesn't know how old I am sent me this silly meme on My Space. It was a little like this: Did you have a Lite Brite? No, my kids did... Did you watch Thundercats? Yeah, because my son liked them. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Doll? No but my daughter did? She-Ra or He-Man? Both, because I had a boy and a girl...

I guess that's what the 80s are for me. Memories of what my kids did and what I got for them! I do remember though, and it pains me to admit it, but I was the one who had to watch PeeWee's PlayHouse on Saturday morning... That's my guilty secret for the day. LOL!

Oh Good. Another Monday

I thought I'd start working early and then thought, why? So here I am, blogging about nothing in particular.

Steve bottled his raspberry beer last night and he dumped the raspberry/yeasty stuff off the deck into the bushes so today there are bees all over the place back there. I'm trying to figure out why he didn't put the stuff in a Baggie so he could put it in the trash, but I guess that was too easy. I'm afraid to let Heidi out because she got an anaphylactic reaction to a bee sting once and I'm not flush enough to pay another vet bill right now. Toby loves the smell too, every time he goes outside he makes a beeline (pardon the pun) for the end of the deck and he just sits there inhaling the raspberry. Ick.

I got some great new pictures of the new grand-nephew today, he's so stinking cute! Looks like his daddy will be going to Cuba in August for a year. That makes me sad. He's going to miss so much.

The weekend just flew by. I slept most of yesterday, just not feeling the best, but I was up by about 4, so we went for a walk. I'm trying to get a walk in every day, but I think I'm going to have to see my ortho and get a lump removed off my stupid foot. If it's not one darn thing, it's another. It's so humid too, I'm thinking I'm going to have to grow gills. I love the warmer weather, but the humidity sucks.
