AAaaaaaaaooooooooooooo....

I went to the dentist today. Yeah. Ouch. I hate going to the dentist. I can't say that I hate my dentist, he's actually the only person that I trust with my teeth and mouth. I had some pretty bad experiences when I was younger with dentists, so it took me a long time to be able to trust this guy, but he's been my dentist for 21 years, so he's okay. But I still hate to go to the dentist. I'd rather see him on social occasions! lol! My fear of dentists is so bad that when my kids were younger, he told me not to bring them in for appointments - to have Steve do it, because I got to nervous going to his office. Now, that's bad... Anyway, along with all my other lumps that I've found and had removed this year, I have a little bump on the inside of the corner of my mouth. It's been there for a while, but at one time I felt like I was getting a cold sore on that corner of my mouth and it got pretty swollen and I bit it quite a few times. (Oh yes, that did hurt!) Anyway, we had this head and neck cancer guy come and speak to our MT group a few weeks ago and he was talking about oral cancers, so I decided I better go in for my check up and have my dentist take a look at it.

As long as I was making the appointment anyway, I figured I might as well schedule my cleaning, which I hadn't had done this year. (Did I mention I hate going to the dentist?) So I went today and had my teeth cleaned. I'd like to say they're all shiny and pearly white, but alas, I have hideous yellow teeth, so I can't lie. However, they are nice and shiny. The dental hygienist was a pro too - I'm going to ask for her next time. It didn't hurt at all. Until about 2 hours ago. Now my entire mouth is throbbing and I think I've pretty much decided to have soup for dinner. Chewing is a little painful.

The checkup was good though. I floss - a lot - it's a nervous habit when I work. I have some floss sticks in my desk and when I'm looking up a word or whatever I'll grab one and floss. Hey, I work alone at home, I can do that! I don't suggest it if you work in an office. Gross. Anyway, the gums were good, the teeth were good, except for one filling that's coming loose and has to be replaced. Not too shabby. I have to call an oral surgeon about the bump, although Dr. T is pretty sure it's just a fibroma, but he think it needs to be taken care of. I guess I can handle that.

In the meantime, grab a cup of soup and join me for dinner!

A New Week

Well, I called the doc today to see if the Lipitor might be the cause of my feeling like I've been hit by a truck for the last 4 days, and he doesn't think so. Must be a virus I guess. I'll be glad when it's gone! I felt a lot better yesterday, but then again today wasn't feeling the best. I talked to Cindy and she got sick last week after her flu shot, achy and feverish, like I've feel this weekend, wonder if it was a delayed reaction? I was supposed to go to up to the hospital today for my TB test, but just didn't really have the energy to drive up there. I have to go tomorrow because they have to read it before I leave for Ohio on Friday. Ugh. I think it's crap that we have to have a TB test when we work at home. Nuts. Oh well, I don't write the rules.

Steve and Bob got home this afternoon, so we went to mom and Bob's for dinner. I took tonight off - I was still feeling pretty achy and didn't really think I could sit and type of 8 hours. Mom had homemade vegetable beef soup, that's a comfort food if I ever had one! I could eat her vegetable soup 7 days a week. Thanks mom!

The Bambis all survived the weekend - at least from the Korn-Sieborg-Kurtz camp. Steve said there were deer all over, but they just didn't shoot any. Um, okay. Who am I to wonder why you would go deer hunting and then not shoot one? Actually I guess it was just as well, when you're gone for 4 days and the weather is in the upper 60s and low 70s, it's not conducive to keeping meat fresh! Ick. Not that I eat deer meat anyway.

It's good to have him home though. Toby really missed him, he literally danced around the entry way when Steve opened the front door, he was so happy! Then he sat on Steve's lap for the rest of the night. Right now he's in the little room where he sleeps at night whining because he thinks he needs to be in the room with us - and he's never slept with us!

In the news today, the drunk driver who killed the deputy sheriff who Meg used to babysit for has gotten a plea agreement and probably won't serve any prison time. Apparently the state patrol mislabeled the blood sample of the driver of the car and now they can't use it for evidence. Her blood alcohol level was something like 0.186 and now they can't use the blood because it was mishandled! Oh brother, talk about a miscarriage of justice! This guy is out riding his motorcycle on his own time like any Joe Citizen, this woman served into his lane, barely missing the other off duty sheriff's deputy riding in front of him, and hit Shad head on, killing him. Now, she's getting off virtually scot free.... Totally sucks. I read in the paper that his mother is appealing the fact that she got a plea bargain and won't even go to trial, I'm totally on her side - the poor family, he left behind a wife and 2 little children, one was only a month or so old. Sometimes the law sucks, you know?

Well, that's about it for today I guess. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow, get my TB test and get back to work. (Oh, and start packing - I need to be at the airport by 6 a.m. on Friday. Ugh. Yes, I know Friday is 4 days away, but I'm a woman! I have to find a bag big enough to stash all my treasures when I come home. I told Dorothy I only want to go to the museum for The Christmas Story (You know, "You'll shoot your eye out! Where the kid wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas). There's a museum in Cleveland that was the original house used in the movie, so I really want to see that. We're going to to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and then Dorothy said there's a toy shop that sells older games and stuff from when we were younger. You know I'm going to have to buy something.... And it's only a little over a month until Christmas, although I'm almost done shopping. And... I'll be in Milwaukee, so I might have to buy a Cheesehead.... Dorothy says if I get off the plane in a cheesehead she's going to pretend she doesn't know me! LOL! If I had a cheesehead on, I'd pretend I didn't know me- I've a Viking Girl! LOL Okay, now I'm really going to bed...

November!?

wwFirst of all - Happy Birthday Pam!

Second, what the heck happened to November? Check it out Baby Brother - on your blog right now the temperature is 63 in San Diego and it's 69 in Omaha. The sun just broke through the clouds, so maybe we'll hit 70. Yeah, on November 11, who could believe that? Mom and I went to the dinner they have in conjunction with the monthly meeting at the Vasa Lodge today. I wore my Thanksgiving sweatshirt since it was a Thanksgiving dinner, and I roasted my butt off! It was too hot for a sweatshirt, that's for sure. I came home and opened up the windows, probably for the last time this year since it's supposed to be colder and rainy tomorrow.

I have had some stupid bug for the past couple of days. I finally feel better today. I'm not sure if it was the Lipitor or what, but I've felt pretty crummy. I didn't even go our to breakfast or to the craft show yesterday with mom and Sue. Mel and Meg had some running around to do for a benefit they're going to today, they had to make a basket to raffle off, but when they were done they came over and Meg got her stuff out of the garage and we went over to her apartment for a bit. Afterwards, Meg came home with me and we played some Super Scrabble - I love Scrabble! Mom brought over a Christmas movie, I can't remember the name of it, but Matthew Broderick and Danny Devito were in it. It was okay and kind of got me in the mood for the holidays. By the time the movie was over and I checked my e-mail I was feeling kind of achy again, so I downed some hydrocodone, an Ambien, and hit the sack. I hadn't slept more than 2-3 hours for the past 2 nights, so it was long before I was out! Well, as out as I could be with 3 dogs in bed with me - Meghan had the other 2! Ruger was so glad to have her here for the night. He used to sleep with her all time time and he misses her so much when she's gone. I think it's worse for him when she comes to visit, but doesn't stay the night, he's in seventh heaven when he can curl up with her to go to bed!

Mom is coming back over tonight and we're going to watch Bridge to Terabithia. Meg said the book was good, but she hasn't seen the movie either. Maybe she'll make it back to join us. In any case, we have that and Surf's Up, so tonight is pretty much going to keep me busy.

Steve should be home tomorrow night He called last night and said he's never seen so many deer. I heard that there's a definite overpopulation of deer this year, which still doesn't give him permission to bring any home! He said nobody shot one yesterday, this year they're all looking for "the big one". Whatever. I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to have my TB test, so I can go back up on Thursday and have them read it before I go to Ohio on Friday! Yay!

I'm quite excited about going to see Dorothy. I've never been to Ohio either. It'll just be a long weekend, but it will be nice to get away. Provided I feel better.

Well, I want to get some work cranked out this afternoon so I can get off early tomorrow night. Ta ta!
